5 REASONS WHY MANY WERE NOT ADMITTED TO NSUK
Is no longer news that the long awaited Nasarawa State University, Keffi (NSUK) supplementary list is out (click here to Download).
After previewing the list, we observed that only 280 candidates were admitted, this does not mean that candidates who were not offered admission are not qualify but can be attributed to the following reasons:
1.      RECENT ADMISSION WAS STRICTLY SUPERVISED BY JAMB: Source revealed that NSUK were only given a space to admit 5000 candidates out of 40, 000 candidates that applied. One may recall that first List was having (4000 plus) successful candidates thereby leaving little space for Supplementary list and that is why JAMB approved only 280 candidates for the recent supplementary list. I receive many phone calls from people lamenting that they were not given admission which they merited and they stand to challenge the transparency of the process. While there are lots of qualified candidates but due to limited space, they might not be among the lucky ones and for such unlucky candidates, I say a little more patient please.
2.      CATCHMENT AREAS: with my experience in JAMB Registration, Admission is given by putting catchment area into consideration. Catchment area is a criteria JAMB use to ensure that a certain Geo-political Zone are given better advantage to secure admission when the school in situated in their zone. This implies that candidates from the middle belt have better chance of getting admission in NSUK compared to candidate from South-South and so on.
3.      INDIGENE: It is obvious that NSUK is a state University and the institution priority is to educate the indigene of the state and possibly extend it services to other candidates outside the state and as such, 70 percent of qualified indigenes that applied are liable to get admission while the remaining 30 percent is shared to other states. You can verify this by scrutinizing the admission list.
4.      DEFICIENCY IN RESULT: result counts in admission process and as such, many were disqualified as a result of this. Candidates with such problem are advised to work hard in areas where they have deficiency to brighten their chances in subsequent screening.
5.      NOT THE RIGHT TIME: There is a popular saying that “God’s Time is the Best”. Maybe this year is not just the right time, God is preparing something better for you.
